f you live in Davie, Florida, and you suffer from migraines or chronic headaches, you may want to add chiropractic care to your treatment regimen. Consider a visit to Chiropractic Spinal Hygiene Center, headed by Dr. Zev Mellman. Research indicates that chiropractic can be an effective alternative to headache medication – with fewer side effects.
Researchers at Duke University reported in 2001 that spinal manipulation resulted in almost immediate improvement for headaches originating in the neck. They also reported longer-lasting relief of tension-type headache than a commonly prescribed medication.
Additional studies show a strong correlation between one’s neck posture and the frequency and severity of migraine headaches. Consider this 1992 study, published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapies. Among 47 patients with tension or migraine headaches, 77 percent of the individuals (89 percent of the women) had a marked reduction, absence or reversal of the normal cervical curve.
Similar results were published in the journal Headache in 1993 following a study that involved 372 patients with tension-type headaches and 225 control subjects. The study found a statistical connection between tension headaches and abnormal alignment of the cervical spine. As in the 1992 study mentioned above, the headache patients’ cervical curves were abnormally straight compared with the control group.
The lack of a cervical curve amounts to what chiropractors describe as a spinal misalignment. Such misalignments put pressure on the delicate nerves in the neck and back, interfering with the nervous system’s ability to send messages from the brain to the rest of the body. At the same time, they can disrupt blood flow along the spinal cord into the brain. Logically, the solution is to realign the spine back to its normal curvature, lifting pressure off the nerves that are causing the headaches.
That’s where chiropractic comes in. Chiropractors are experts on the spine. And chiropractors trained in Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP) are focused on rehabilitating and realigning the spine back to health, yielding a permanent solution to migraines and tension headaches – without drugs or surgery. Chiropractic BioPhysics is the most scientific, researched and results-oriented corrective chiropractic technique.
Chiropractic Spinal Hygiene Center, headed by Dr. Zev Mellman in Davie, Florida, is among only a handful of chiropractic centers specializing in CBP.
